Writing Process Step 4: Edit for C.U.P.S.
Once you have revised for ideas, organization, word choice, voice, and sentence fluency, you need to edit/proof your paper for errors. Let's face it: people are judgmental. If they see capitalization, usage, punctuation, and spelling mistakes (C.U.P.S.) on your paper, they might not pay attention to your ideas! In the world of work, careless mistakes on a job application can cost you a good job. In fact, many employers screen applications for grammar and conventions errors. An application with errors suggests that you might not be someone who pays attention to detail.
The interactive presentations, games, and exercises below will help you build your editing skills. Have fun, but more importantly, remember to apply these skills when you proof your own writing.
